ABX Works Smartly To Secure Multiple Warehouse Facilities

07 December 2007

The facilities management solution from ADT enables remote CCTV control and monitoring of strategic points, both inside and outside the warehouse facilities and at entrance and exit points. Mobile dome cameras ensure efficient surveillance of all storage aisles, traditionally difficult areas to monitor.

ADT and ABX Logistics have been partners for several years since ADT first installed a centralised surveillance system in all of ABX LOGISTICS’ Belgian sites.

ABX LOGISTICS, which specialises in national and international road transport, air and sea freight, contract logistics and express, started analysing three years ago how it could reduce theft to a minimum. ABX LOGISTICS wanted a pro-active solution regarding loss prevention at its 16 Belgian sites.

Luc Clauwaert, ABX LOGISTICS security manager, states: “I wanted to combine a well-thought out concept from a company with a strong know-how in CCTV technology. The Intellex recorders proposed by ADT can view a combination of 140 fixed cameras and speed domes.”

The external and internal cameras are installed at strategic points in every warehouse, making it possible to closely monitor all transport actions, from the transporters to the actual processing of the goods. A team of qualified guards, based in the main ABX LOGISTICS site in Brussels, executes on a daily basis virtual rounds following the complete distribution process. Using an Ethernet network of 100Mb, real time data can be obtained; the Intellex also allows a remote dome control and programming of all settings on the different cameras.

ADT provides solutions to meet different commercial and industrial electronic security needs. In partnership with ABX LOGISTICS, the latest version of the Sensorrail system, a mobile dome camera was adapted to provide ABX LOGISTICS with efficient aisle anti-theft protection and surveillance. This testing-on-site by the customer shows the involvement in developing products for the right market.

Peter Schets, sales manager, ADT Belgium, says: “This is a revolutionary facilities management system providing a simple but highly effective solution. Controlling remote sites by cameras can be a real asset to each customer. ABX LOGISTICS has really invested time and money in a customised security solution. This well-thought concept has surely shown a win-win situation for both parties.”

The fact that ADT recently signed a new contract with ABX LOGISTICS for the installations of intrusion, and fire and access control systems in its Belgian and worldwide headquarters further proves the solid partnership between the two companies.
